When my mom got invited to go to Europe for a Mediterranean cruise on the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship, at first I didn’t really want to go. We were going to be gone for two weeks and I didn’t want to miss seeing my friends for so long!
But the more mom told me about where we were going and what we were going to do, I started getting excited, especially because it was going to be my first time flying to Europe and I love cruises! And since Carnival paid for our airfare and the cruise itself, mom promised that we could go shopping since she would have extra money to spend.
My favorite excursion was in Naples when we went to Ancient Herculaneum. It was amazing to walk through a city that was over a thousand years old and see paintings that were still there! We could even see the bones of the people who were trying to escape the volcano in the boat houses!
This is my favorite picture from Barcelona. We stayed in a hotel at Plaza de Catalunya, and there were always people in the square in front of our hotel.
I took this picture in Cavtat, which is a little vacation destination in Croatia. Carnival gave us two free excursions while we were on the cruise and this was one that mom picked, it was the Best of Dubrovnik shore excursion.
There wasn’t much to do in the town except for eat gelato and walk the old streets, but it was so pretty!
I took this picture on the way home from Rome when we were flying over the islands, but I don’t know which islands they were. I’ve been to the Bahamas before and they don’t look like this!
We ate a lot of gelato in Europe, especially in Italy! This was a Nutella gelato that we got near the Pantheon on our first day in Rome.
My mom bought us tickets to a tour in the Vatican Museums in Rome, and these are some of my favorite pictures from our tour. Everything was so old and fancy!
We had a balcony room on the Carnival Sunshine and I took a lot of pictures of the land from our balcony. Everything was really smoky looking because it was REALLY hot!
We went on a excursion in Venice and got finished before it was time to take a water bus back to our ship, so we stopped for pizza and water.
They don’t even give you ice with your water! But the pizza is really good, it just doesn’t have much cheese.
We did a lot of shopping in Europe but my favorite was shopping in Barcelona.
They have a lot of stores like Forever 21, called Zara and there’s an H&M too!
I took this picture out of the window in the Vatican. That’s the roof tops of Rome!
There were street performers all over the place in Italy, but this one was the best!
We got pizza in Barcelona too. My mom wanted tapas but most of them were shellfish and she’s allergic. She got croquettas (that I hate) and we ordered a pizza but it was so big that they split it and we each got our own!
We spent about a day in Venice but it was SO HOT. It was really pretty and there was a ton of glass shops that my mom dragged me all over to.
We did the St Mark’s Experience as a free excursion with Carnival but we couldn’t take pictures inside because you can’t take pictures in churches in Italy.
For my next big vacation, I want to take an African safari, but my mom wants to go back to Rome next summer for a whole month!
We might not even do any of that and just take a Caribbean cruise because my mom already put down a deposit on our next Carnival cruise!
